![]() Having arrived in England on 5th May 1916, Gow transferred to the 5th Canadian Mounted Rifles - Quebec Regiment, on 6th June 1916, and then saw service out on the Western Front from the next day. Robert Gow was born on 28th July 1896 in Greenock, Scotland, and having emigrated to Canada where he settled in Chatham, Ontario, and worked as a packer and saw service with the 24th Kent Regiment - a unit of the Canadian militia, with the ongoing Great War, he then attested for service with the Canadian Overseas Expeditionary Force at Chatham on 23rd September 1915, joining as a Private (No.123609) with the 70th Battalion. Gow, 5th Canadian Mounted Rifles - Quebec Regiment, who saw service on the Western Front from June 1916, and was decorated for his bravery in the field in the London Gazette for 13th March 1919, which indicates an award won during the Battle of Amiens in the period from 8th August to 3rd September 1918.
